Surprises … 9

I’ve been struggling with my inking style recently. It had gotten so tight, so precise, that the time it took to ink one page was taking upwards of two days or more, and on top of that I began developing chronic pain in my drawing hand. My frustration was at its absolute peek when, blessings of blessings, I read Tekkon Kinkreet by Matsumoto Taiyō. His loose, crazy, beautiful style rocked my world, I tell you what. Now, as I try to move towards a new inking style that makes me happy, efficient, and pain-free, I want to thank you guys, yet again, for your patience. You’re the best audience a fledgling comic artist could ask for! :D

Ch-ch-ch-changes…

May 9th, 2008

As ya’ll might have noticed, the site’s changed its look for the summer, so that’s fun. As ya’ll might have also noticed, I’ve had to dial back to one update a week, [which is not fun.]

My daytime schedule’s changed dramatically since I moved, but I’m doing everything in my power to continue Knob Lick while holding down a day job and working on a project list a mile long as well. I love this story that Aaron and I have written, and I’m devoted to sharing it. I just want to say thanks to you all for being so beautiful in your patience and your loyalty. It’s appreciated more than I can express.

P.S. - Oh, and I added a Project Wonderful ad box, too. Cheap advertising, you guys! Yay!

CONGRATS!!!!

April 21st, 2008

This past Friday Knob Lick’s own Aaron Wilson married his fiancee, [and my darling friend,] Rhiannon Shoults. Yours truly signed off as Rhiannon’s witness at the courthouse and couldn’t be more thrilled for the happy, newly-dubbed Shoults-Wilson couple.

Congrats again you crazy kids!

In STL To Stay

April 15th, 2008

If anyone was worried about the radio silence, a week ago I decided to move back to STL, [nothing bad/sad happened, it was a good decision, I’m excited, I swear!] I then lost the internet very early Thursday morning, [the cable guy woke me up when he came six hours earlier than scheduled,] scrambled to pack, and then proceeded to move from Savannah, GA to St. Louis, MO this weekend.

Long story short, the pooch, Dad, and I arrived in STL safely earlier this evening. The truck’s unloaded, the dog’s finally settled down for the night, I have internet again, and I’m bushed, but it’s a good sort of bushed. I’m a little annoyed though, because I intended to get a ton of KLL work done on the trip but I could barely fill out a crossword puzzle, let alone ink, it was that jitter-jumpery. Tomorrow I plan to ink like a fiend, unpacking and settling in be damned! D:<

Dedgurl Draws — Huzzah!

March 13th, 2008

I just wanted to announce that my first compilation of sketches, [i.e. - a “sketchbook,”] is now on sale, [i.e. - available for purchase,] through my Lulu storefront, [i.e. - here.]

Dedgurl Draws contains some of my favorite doodles, prep work for my numerous projects, a short comic story entitled “Covered,” and some choice drawings not for the kiddies. Fun for most ages!

A Short Break

February 26th, 2008

My apologies, oh dear, devoted readers, but Knob Lick must go on a short break until after Megacon. There’s less than two weeks until we head on down to Orlando, it’s my first time with a table, [all by my lonesome — scary! D:] and I’ve still got a million things to do to get ready-set-go. I might be able to update some time before the weekend of March 7th-9th, but please don’t hold your breath — I wouldn’t want you passing out!

Again, a billion, trillion apologies, my sweets. Please don’t hate me too much.

-Kate
